BIO

Lucas Fixel, drummer, percussionist and composer, from Rio de Janeiro stems from a vast musical background, rooted in traditional samba groups of Rio de Janeiro, dance bands (samba, pagode, forró, rock, pop and funk), western orchestral music and Jazz.

 

With more than 15 years of professional experience, he also acquired academic education as an arranger, at the UNIRIO which has strengthened his musical standing as a versatile artist, which has given him the opportunity to perform in the international festivals such as: Festival de Inverno de NF/Brazil (2006), Lapa Jazz/Brazil (2013), Festival Feito a Man/Spain (2011), Festival Batebatuke (2009, 2010 and 2011) e Festival de Jazz de Pontevedra/Spain (2009). 


 

Furthermore, Fixel is also deeply rooted in the transformative power of music through social and political engagement and has performed with samba artists such as: Thaís Macedo, Sabor de Samba and Toninho Geraes, Jazz artists like: Alma Thomas, Natalie Greffel, Nova Lapa Jazz, Relógio de Dalí, Logan Richardson (USA), Roman Filiu (Cuba), Célia Mur (Spain) , Paco Charlín (Spain), Vistel Brothers (Cuba), Victor Ribeiro, Pablo Arruda, Örebro Big Band and the bossa nova icons: Edson Lobo, Tita Lobo, and Haroldo Mauro Jr. 


 

As a musical director, composer, arranger and performer, Fixel has released such work as: Rebentação. With such work he has won an award for best new artist awarded by the BNDES theater. He also perfomed in the albums: A Ronda da Capivara (Victor Ribeiro), Silêncio (Pablo Arruda), Crenças e Tramas (Tiago Rosas), Banda Boom Feat and along side his solo work throughout. He is currently recording and producing from home in his studio.
